Unfortunately, the console commands are not as intuitive and quick as those using the mouse, making the first few hours of the game very tedious. Once you get used to the new control system (risking to miss the target by confusing arrows and directions), the battles will follow each other with increasing difficulty, prompting the player to learn from their mistakes and more often to try to resist as much as possible. Logically, lacking the peripheral on the console, Stoic has implemented the use of analog sticks to move on the map and directional arrows to change soldiers during the fight. On PC, The Banner Saga's gameplay was completely dedicated to the mouse, using a point-click system typical of strategic chessboard games. Each choice made by the player in the numerous multiple-choice dialogues will lead to a more or less serious consequence on the game world and on the development of the plot: from the decrease or increase in the morale of your caravan, up to the death of certain characters, every step in the world forged by Stoic is dangerous and full of pitfalls. Of the plot of The Banner Saga we talked about it extensively in the review of the PC version, and logically, no changes have been made to the history of Smoke, which will take place again in about ten hours divided into seven chapters, one more touching than the other. For every missing detail (management part, plot choices) you can read the 2014 article. Having analyzed the PC version myself two years ago, in this review I will mainly focus on the differences in the console port. Exactly two years later (January 12, 2016) while still waiting for the announcement of the date of the second chapter, The Banner Saga arrives on PlayStation 4 e Xbox One, at a starting price of € 19,99 and finally in Spanish. JanuStoic Studio, then made up of three former Bioware members, published on Steam The Banner Saga, turn-based strategy set in a Viking world, in which the player's choices had more or less serious consequences on the continuation of the plot.
